A panel discussion exploring the Sub-theme: Creation, Artificial Intelligence, and Transhumanism.

PANEL DISCUSSION | CREATION, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND TRANSHUMANISM

ECLAS Africa’s East, Central & Southern Africa Conference for Senior Church Leaders and Scientists commenced today, 1st September 2026, at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, Malawi, with a panel discussion exploring the sub-theme: Creation, Artificial Intelligence, and Transhumanism.

The discussion brought together diverse perspectives from science, theology, technology and Christian leadership, with panelists examining emerging questions around artificial intelligence, human identity, creation, technology and the future of humanity.

The panel featured:

Dr. Glenn Mwika – ESAMI
Dr. Kevin Muriithi – St. Paul’s University, Kenya
Prof. Andrew Mtewa – Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST)
Dr. Emmanuel Mukeshimana – Uganda Christian University (UCU), Uganda
Dr. Humphreys Timothy Shumba – African Bible Institute (ABI), Malawi

The engaging conversation provided an important platform for reflecting on how faith, theology and science can respond to the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence and transhumanism in African contexts.
