ECLAS–Africa

ECLAS Africa Research Program equips Christian leaders to engage confidently with science and development while remaining grounded in biblical and theological perspectives. Through research, dialogue and leadership training, the program explores the relationship between faith, science and society and supports churches in responding to contemporary challenges. With training reaching 2,053 church leaders across 18+ counties in Kenya between 2024 and 2026, ECLAS Africa is building a growing evidence base for scientifically informed and development-oriented Christian leadership.

ECLAS AFRICA East, Central and Southern Africa Conference for Senior Church Leaders and Scientists DAY 2 | Panel Discussion Faith-Based Climate and Food Security Champions As part of Day 2 of the ECLAS Africa Conference, participants engaged in an important panel discussion on Faith-Based Climate and Food Security Champions. The discussion brought together voices from the church, academia and science to explore the role of faith communities in responding to climate change and strengthening food security across Africa. The East, Central and Southern Conference for Senior Church Leaders and Scientists DAY 2 | Sub-theme 3: Climate Change Adaptation and Food Security Day 2 featured an insightful keynote presentation by Dr. John Mponda from Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), focusing on Climate Change Adaptation and Food Security. Dr. Mponda delivered a good and engaging presentation, bringing valuable insights into the challenges posed by climate change and the need for practical approaches to strengthen adaptation, resilience and food security across communities. His presentation contributed to meaningful reflection and discussion on how science and faith can work together to respond to climate-related challenges and build more resilient and sustainable communities.
